Following the finale to Star Wars: Rebels, we now have the first trailer for the new animated show called ‘Star Wars: Resistance’, a series which introduces new character Kazuda ‘Kaz’ Xiono voiced by Christopher Sean. Kazuda is a a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission to spy on the threat of the First Order.
The show is set before the events in Episode 7 Force Awakens, Kazuda is appointed to the Colossus, a huge aircraft re-fuelling platform on an outer-rim water planet home to new aliens, droids and creatures for the Star Wars universe.
Kaz works undercover as a mechanic and lives with Yeager voiced by Scott Lawrence. Yeager is a veteran pilot and old friend of Poe Dameron who operates a starship repair shop run by his crew: Tam voiced by Suzie McGrath, Neeku voiced by Josh Brener and their old battered astromech droid, Bucket.
Resistance has a more anime art style compared to the CGI look of both Clone Wars and Rebels and I actually like it. It will also voice talent from the new big screen films with Oscar Isaac, Donald Faison, Jim Rash, Bobby Moynihan, Gwendoline Christie, Myrna Velasco and Rachel Butera. It is also from the genius Dave Filoni who has led the animated side of the Star Wars universe so successfully and I really hope he will get the chance to bring his imagination to the big screen with a live action film for Star Wars one day.
So far the animated Star Wars series have been amazing and have added so much to Star Wars lore for fans so this is definitely one on my radar to check out when it premieres on Sunday, October 7th at 10pm ET/PT on Disney Channel (no date given for outside US yet).
